Inspired by adventure and a commitment to education, I created a series of prints celebrating the world’s 14 highest mountain peaks.
Overview
14 Peaks refers to the ‘eight-thousanders’&emdash;Earth’s 14 mountain peaks that exceed 8,000 meters (26,247 feet) in elevation. These peaks are all located within the Himalayan and Karakoram mountain ranges. Each summit lies within the so-called “death zone,” where oxygen levels are insufficient to sustain human life for extended periods.
My objective in this personal project was to design a cohesive series of informative posters highlighting each of the world’s 14 highest peaks. Key project requirements included:
- Designing a distinctive “14 Peaks” logo
- Developing a consistent poster template to unify the series
- Incorporating essential data and facts for each mountain
- Accurately representing each peak’s height through scaled artwork
Each poster in the series presents key facts about the mountain, including the history of its first ascent. The height of each peak is visually represented to approximate scale, with Everest prominently featured as the tallest among the 8,000-meter peaks.
Print Design
These posters are crafted for high-quality giclée printing, utilizing archival inks and premium paper to ensure longevity.
Web Design
I designed and developed a fully responsive website to showcase the collection of prints alongside lifestyle photography for each poster.
Impact
What began as a creative tribute to the climbing history of these iconic peaks evolved into a compelling collection of art prints that blend education with visual storytelling. Beyond celebrating mountaineering achievements, the series has engaged audiences by offering a unique perspective on the natural grandeur and challenges of the world’s highest mountains. These designs have not only enhanced appreciation for the mountains themselves but also elevated the art of informational poster design, making complex data accessible and visually captivating. The collection serves as both a source of inspiration for adventurers and a refined decorative statement for enthusiasts of nature and design alike.
