Ansel Adams once said: "Solitude, so vital to the individual, is almost nowhere."
His wise words resonate within me; a sad truth I feel quite lucky to realize.
Welcome to the online gallery of Cameron Stevens. In searching for my own solitude, I have found myself in many haunting landscapes. With paint and brush, I try to capture and evoke the memory and mood from these great vistas, for myself and for you.
My style, akin to the Canadian Masters, focuses on the effects of light and dark while utilising colour, shape and simple forms to provide content. I believe a lack of visual detail invites you to relate your own experiences and memories to the lonely places I portray.

Provincial Park PostersIn the 1930's and 40's, the USNPS created posters to stir the public's imagination and interest in traveling to America's great Parks.
I've begun creating posters for Canada's great Parks in a similar fashion and they are now for sale in limited quantities.
